The Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) aims to improve mentoring relationships for research trainees and mentors at all career stages through the development, implementation and study of evidence-based and culturally-responsive interventions and the study of mentoring ecosystem. The Entering Mentoring curricula is being implemented via the Office of Research and Graduate Education led by Dr. Elia Tait Wojno (Department of Immunology). This program meets the National Institutes of Health (NIH) mentor training requirements for institutional training grants effective January 2025, which requires all faculty who are affiliated with a training grant to complete the training.

Participating Micro faculty: Dr. Michael Lagunoff and Dr. Patrick Mitchell are CIMER trained facilitators.

The UW EDI Foundational Training is required training anti-racist training for all members of the UW Medicine community. It's 5 core offerings include: Identity, Privilege, and Intersectionality, History of Race and Racism in Medicine and Science, Social Determinants of Health, Gender and Sexual Diversity, and Bias and Microaggressions, as well as 2 additional modules on Bystander Intervention and a Equity Impact Review Tool workshop.

Empowering Prevention & Inclusive Communities (EPIC) is a peer-to-peer program that trains academic student employees and postdocs to prevent sexual harassment and promote a more inclusive workplace.

The NIH Raising a Resilient Scientist Series and Becoming a Resilient Scientist Series aim to to promote the mental health and well-being of the academic research community by supporting faculty and administrators to develop self-management, relationship-management, and mentoring skills, and to provide trainees with the resilience tools needed to study and work in high-knowledge environments.

Disability Studies at the University of Washington Undergrad minor. Language, research, policy supporting disability community.

College of Arts & Sciences Diversity Minor Offers courses on Diversity Minor and provides links to resources on different aspects of diversity to strengthen students understanding of how race, class, gender, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, religion and age interact to define identities and social relationships.

Summer Health Profession Education Program (SHPEP) The SHPEP curriculum at the University of Washington is designed to build on the students’ knowledge of the social determinants of health and health disparities through the lens of social justice.

The UW Resilience Lab Well-Being for Life and Learning Guidebook a new resource for instructors to aid them in designing learning environments that promote well-being. Combining research, best practices, and personal testimony, the guidebook gives faculty and other instructors concrete ideas and direct input from the UW campus community around supporting the whole student and promoting resilience and compassion.

UW Medicine Healthcare Equity Toolkit Designed to be a resource to support and guide UW Medicine leaders and staff in efforts to embrace diversity, foster inclusion and advance equity for UW Medicine patients and workforce.

The HHMI Center for the Advancement of Science Leadership and Culture plays a key role in HHMI’s efforts to center equity and inclusion in science research and education across key academic career stages. The Center serves as a facilitator, convener, strategic partner, and source of expertise to advance HHMI’s goals for the scientific workforce.
