Community building via EDI initiatives. We have undertaken several new programs to strengthen interactions among members of the Department. These efforts seek to create a more supportive and connected research community to build trust, enhance communication, and mitigate the challenge of our multi-campus Department. Many of the following initiatives were developed in response to the negative impact on community building and engagement during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. These include a new graduate peer mentoring program, Faculty-Student Coffee & Chat, the Postdoc Enrichment Program (PEP), as well as increasing our engagement with other departments to desilo our EDI efforts and provide additional opportunities for individuals to find community outside of traditional department structures.
