In Spring 2021 we established a new peer mentor program that pairs first-year graduate students with senior graduate students to promote inclusion in the Department. This was especially valuable during the pandemic, as first-year students who moved to Seattle just prior to or during the pandemic had limited local support networks.
As of the current academic year, we have had 27 pairs participate in the program.
