Biomedical Summer Training and Engagement Program (BioSTEP): UW-BioSTEP is a summer research program run by the Department of Microbiology. Our goal is to provide premiere summer research opportunities and training in microbiology for students who either lack or have very limited access to biomedical research at their home institution, and who are interested in pursuing microbiological research in graduate school or in another professional capacity.
Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program: PREP is a training program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with the goal of bringing undergraduate students to the UW for one year, following their graduation with a Baccalaureate degree, during which they will perform laboratory-based research. The expectation is that this year of lab hands-on experience, supplemented with some courses, will facilitate the student’s subsequent enrollment into graduate school in the biomedical sciences.
